The FBI included the following advice for travelers to stay safe during the spring holiday:

  • Create your family’s call points to indicate an emergency.
  • Avoid traveling alone, especially after dark. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid areas you think may endanger your personal safety.
  • Only use taxis/shuttle. Passengers are stolen or kidnapped when using taxis.
  • Avoid illegal, inappropriate or unlimited procedures. Avoid sexual offers. It may lead to a room raid, photography, and blackmail.
  • You escape from criminals by realizing your surroundings and alerting to the possibility of monitoring. Take mental notes to anyone who follows you and immediately informs them of the appropriate security officials.
  • Beware of the new knowledge who are looking for information about you or those who try to involve you in what can become a waiver position.

Various Caribbean countries are subject to a second level warning, which means that Americans must exercise increasing precautions. These countries include the Dominican Republic, the Turks and Kaikos, the Bahamas, Cuba and the Netherlands Antille.

Many Mexican countries also have 4 level warnings due to the activity of the cartel and the dangerous gangs, including Senola, Tamolibas, Zakatikas, Michocan, Kulima and Ghweiro.
