A court in Georgia handed the other prison sentence to the former president who was already imprisoned, Micoal Sakashvili.

His lawyer said that Sakashvili was sentenced to half and a half behind bars to illegally cross the border upon his return to the country from exile in 2021.

He already serves as synchronous conditions for embezzlement and abuse of power while she is in office, up to his total sentence to more than 12 years.

Sakashvili has always denied any violations and described the last sentence as “illegal” and “unfair”. Rights groups say his imprisonment has political motives.

Sakashvili opposes the ruling Georgian Dream Party, which prefers closer relations with Russia. As a president, he sought to formulate closer relations with Western governments.

In a video posted on Monday on Monday from the hospital where he is being held, Sakashvili said: “Regardless of what, I will fight to the end.”

Last week, the former president was sentenced to bars last week for embezzlement, as he was running alongside the prison period he was already serving. In 2018, he was tried in the absence and was sentenced to two separate experiences.

Sakashvili was arrested in 2021 after a surprise returned to Georgia before the country’s local elections by smuggling himself to the country on board Ukraine.

He called for the mass demonstrations to combat the government, but quickly arrested by the Georgian authorities.

The 57 -year -old led Georgia in two periods between 2004 and 2013. Since leaving the country, he has mostly lived in Ukraine.

He obtained Ukrainian citizenship in 2015, abandoning his Georgian nationality when he became ruler of the Odessa region in Ukraine.

His nationality was canceled in 2017 before he was again recovered by President Voludmir Zelinski in 2019.

“I am Ukrainian,” Sakashvili said in his video in a black shirt with the words.

Zelinski, who appointed Sakashvili to supervise the reforms in Ukraine, demanded that he be transferred to Kiev.

He previously accused Russia of killing “Sakashvili” at the hands of the Georgian authorities.

The European Union has repeatedly called for the immediate release of Saqashvili from prison, Expressing anxiety about the deterioration of his health.

The Council of Labor Rights in the Council of Europe described him as a “political prisoner”, while Amnesty International described his treatment as “clear political revenge.”
