Man City finds themselves in the center of another legal battle, but this time, the challenge comes from outside England.

according to Sky SportsSpanish league president, Javier Thibbas, filed an official complaint with the European Commission, accusing the Premier League champion for violating the competition laws in the European Union.

The complaint, which was submitted in 2023, claims that the city received financial support from the United Arab Emirates, giving them an unfair advantage in the European transport market. Tebas argues that these subsidies allowed City to recruit first -class players and managers to exceed what could be possible in light of normal financial restrictions.

He also called on Spanish Football President Tebas to sanctions against the city. He said (quotes across Fox Sports):

We have informed Manchester City to the European Union. Although they are an English team, not part of the European Union, they still have trade activities in Europe. We filed the complaint first in July 2023 and there are now regulations that allow the European Union to look at companies such as City Football Group.

There are two sides. The first is to check Manchester City that does not use other companies to deceive the system. The second element is a bigger battle to stop football in the hands of state -owned entities without the appropriate police.

“Our issue against Manchester City is related to two things. We are facing a problem with some prices that the club paid. We are wondering about who the club can sit on losses on other relevant companies that are not directly part of the city’s football group.”

“I can’t talk to any sanctions on Manchester City in this regard yet. All I can say is when a company in Europe, in general, is to distort the market, and they often have to return money. We want to agree to Manchester City.

“The case is currently in the investigation phase. We have not yet replied. Remember that the European Union has many cases.”

However, Manchester City has strongly refuted these allegations, stressing that its financial operations are fully compatible with all regulations.

The city of Man is still on legal cases

This is not the first time that the city has been scrutinized in financial matters. In 2020, the CAS Arbitration Court (CAS) canceled UEFA’s decision to impose a two -year European ban on the club, and decided that the punishment was unjustified.

The Premier League champions are currently dealing with a separate achievement after accusing 115 of the alleged financial violations by English aviation. It is expected in this case in the coming months, with Possible serious consequences, including fines, points discounts, or even historical property users if they are proven guilty.

In addition, City recently launched legal measures against the Premier League on the boundary of its associated party transactions (APT), a case they eventually won.

Moreover, La Liga Club Real Valladolid, who recently accused the city of exploitation of their little defender Júsuf Demir, threatened To them with legal procedures.

The field conflicts add to Man City’s problems

While City continues to fight the legal problems behind the scenes, its performance on the field also has also acquired this season.

The Pep Guardiola team of the Champions League was already eliminated before the 16th round and suffered from the early exit in the Carabau Cup.

In the English Premier League, City goes out of the title, and is currently sitting in fourth place, where they are fighting for the best 4 ends, far from their usual dominance.

As the city continues to move in legal challenges, the results of this last conflict can have long -term repercussions on the club’s future in European football.
