Content marketing agency Moonrock today unveiled its new gaming journalism site, Restart.run, an independent gaming site sponsored by a major retailer. Walmart. The new toy site features toy reviews, recommendations, and interviews, with nearly all articles containing inline links to products featured on Walmart’s website.

According to Monrock, the site has a staff with over 40 years of experience and focuses on social media presence and video content as well as articles written on the site. Although Walmart sponsors these sites, Monrock says the site remains independent, led by editor-in-chief Brandi Berthelson.

“We continually strive to meet gaming customers where they are and offer them exciting items and solutions as part of our broad assortment,” Frank Barbieri, vice president of content and digital at Walmart, told GamesBeat in an interview. “As we grow into online sales and same-day pickup and delivery models in stores, We offer the fastest way for most gaming customers in America to get the video game consoles they love.

“We realize there are a lot of options for gaming customers and fans – from where and how to get involved online, which events to attend and more,” added Barbieri. “Our involvement with Restart represents an opportunity to contribute more than just selling gaming products, but to be part of a community.” Wider provides engaging content and a great online experience.

What Walmart offers Restart readers

As mentioned, most of the content on Restart features embedded affiliate links to products mentioned on Walmart’s site. This is not Walmart’s first venture into gaming, as the company has done so recently Collaborated with Roblox To launch an e-commerce platform. Restart maintains an “ongoing relationship” with the retailer, but does not earn commission from affiliate links.

“We have created… Reboot To provide gamers with the kind of content they can truly trust – thoughtful reviews, real insights, and stories that actually matter to gamers, made by real people who care about games. Walmart’s sponsorship allows us to dive deeper into what makes games amazing in a clean, ad-free presentation, all while maintaining an independent voice.

Barbieri echoed this sentiment, telling GamesBeat: “The Restart team has been great to work with. As Restart grows by driving product discovery and engagement with the gaming community, Walmart will be there to support our customers by providing them with the products they want and love.”
