Sonu Nigam recently performed at Rising Rajasthan in Jaipur, where his powerful performance captivated the audience. However, the singer was disappointed when several prominent figures, including politicians, left the event midway. Expressing his feelings, Sonu shared a heartfelt message on social media.
In a video posted on Instagram after his performance on Monday, Sono directly addressed politicians, urging them to reconsider their approach to attending cultural events. He wrote in the comment, “A humble request to all respected politicians of India, please do not attend any performance of any artist if you have to suddenly leave midway. This is disrespectful to art, artistes and Maa Sarasvati.”
Sonu also pointed out that even Prime Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and other ministers left during his performance, raising concerns about the message such actions convey to the public.
A lot of good people came to the show; It was a very prestigious event. Delegates came from all over the world to boost Rajasthani pride. The state’s chief minister was there, as was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore). “I couldn’t see them all in the dark, but there were a lot of people,” Sonu Nigam recalls in the video.
“In the middle of the show, I saw that CM Saab and the rest of the people got up and left. As soon as they left, all the delegates left as well. I have a request to all politicians: If you don’t respect your artists, what will people do abroad? In America or anywhere else, why I’ve never seen a boss leave midway through a performance. At least they’ll report before leaving. My humble request to all of you is that if you have to leave like this, don’t come; or at least leave before the show starts.
Sonu Nigam expressed his disappointment and described such actions as extremely disrespectful. He pointed out, “Leaving in the middle of an artist’s performance is very disrespectful. This is an insult to Goddess Saraswati. I didn’t even notice you leaving at first, but then, I received many messages from people advising me not to participate in events like this for politicians who leave midway. So, I have Modest Request: If you have to leave, please do so before the show starts. Do not attend. I understand that you are important and busy individuals with many responsibilities, and that your time is valuable. Please do not attend She couldn’t stay for the whole show.”
Sono concluded his statement with a polite but firm appeal, saying: “It’s a humble request.”
His sister, playback singer Tisha Nigam, supported his stance and commented: “Only you can tell it like it is!” Many fans also echoed his thoughts. One fan wrote, “He said so lovingly, so sincerely,” While another added, “Thank you for highlighting this issue… Aur aap bolt hain tabhi log sunte hain.”
