Armed groups kill at least 40 farmers in Nigeria’s Borno state Boko Haram News

Officials say Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP) groups are suspected of being behind attacks on farmers in the Domba region.

At least 40 farmers were killed in an attack by armed groups in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state, according to government officials.

Tarr said the groups arrested dozens of farmers in Domba on the banks of Lake Chad and shot them dead late on Sunday.

“The initial report indicates that about 40 farmers were killed, while the whereabouts of many who fled the attack are being sought to reunite them with their families,” Tarr said.

Tarr added that the state government had ordered soldiers fighting rebel fighters in the region to “track down and eliminate rebel elements” operating around Domba and their enclaves in the wider Lake Chad region.

The commissioner said the farmers had “transgressed” the safe limits set by the armed forces for agriculture and fishing in the area, which is a haven for Islamic State in West Africa and Boko Haram fighters and is dotted with landmines and “vulnerable to night attacks.”

Governor Zulum warned civilians to stay within designated safe areas that the military has cleared of fighters and munitions.

He also called for an investigation into the attack by the armed forces.

Lake Chad, which straddles Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad, is a hideout for Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa, which use it as a base to launch attacks. Launch attacks.
