As per reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that BCCI is still unclear about the fitness of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. The board is still awaiting the fitness reports of key players, which is why they have requested an extension of the deadline to announce the team for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury during the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and the Indian Express recently revealed that the fast bowler is suffering from a swollen back. It is learned that the player may miss the league stage of the ICC Champions Cup and play in the knockout round.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav faced a thigh injury at the start of the New Zealand Test series. He underwent surgery in Germany and has been doing his best at the NCA, to make sure he returns in time and play the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Recent reports have claimed that Kuldeep Yadav is very close to reaching full fitness. The wrist-spinner is likely to be ready by the end of this month and may also play in the ODI series against the England national cricket team, which will start on February 6.

The Indian national cricket team squad will now be announced on January 19. The development was confirmed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-chairman Rajeev Shukla after the special general meeting on Sunday.

“The Champions Trophy squad is likely to be announced on January 19,” Rajiv Shukla said, according to the Times of India.

India National Cricket Team squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 could see some surprising additions. There were several reports claiming that youngster Yashavi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy will be selected for the team.
