Apple Music just announced that it is expanding its live radio offerings and . These channels are hosted by real people and are available to everyone, even those who don’t have a paid Apple Music subscription.
First, there’s Apple Música Uno, which celebrates “the wealth of stylistic diversity in Latin music around the world.” The station will play music from a wide range of genres, including Música Mexicana, reggaetón, tropical music, Latin pop and more. It’s hosted by stars like Becky G, Rauw Alejandro and Grupo Frontera, along with radio personalities Evelyn Sicairos and Lechero. It is broadcast every weekday, although weekends will feature special programming.
Apple Music Club takes things up a notch, with a focus on dance and electronic music. The show will be directed by Tim Sweeney, host of WNYU’s Beats in Space and not the guy who runs Epic Games, along with DJ and artist NAINA. Apple says each playlist will be “carefully curated into a fully live collection.” These playlists will be curated by a mix of superstars, including Honey Dijon, Jamie xx and FKA twigs. Once live, each broadcast will be available to reviewers via it DJ Mixes on the platform.
Finally, there’s Apple Music Chill, which is described as a “sanctuary and refuge” and a “sanctuary for audio.” It’s a nice thing to have in the background while you go about your day. This sounds to me like a version of popular lo-fi girls playlists. “Programming will be a constant stream of highlights across musical genres,” Apple says.
