A woman recently shared on LinkedIn that she turned down a job offer after experiencing disrespectful behavior during the interview process. In her post, Vibha Gupta revealed that she had rejected the CEO and listed several reasons why she believed accepting the position would be a “mistake”.

“I went for my first interview ever. Things that made me realize it would be a mistake to join this company,” she wrote, adding that the CEO’s behavior turned her away from the role.

Gupta shared that the first red flag was when the CEO “made her wait for 15 minutes.” While she admitted that this may have been due to important calls, what followed left a negative impression.

During the interview, the CEO asked her if HR had shared an introductory video with her about the company. When Gupta responded that she had not received it, the CEO immediately summoned human resources staff to his office and reprimanded them. “There is no respect towards his employees. Although I understand that HR made a mistake, it is disrespectful to berate your employee in front of a stranger,” Gupta noted.

Gupta also shared that the CEO dismissed her copywriting efforts by calling her “ChatGPT,” making her feel like her work wouldn’t be appreciated or respected.

“I agree that he probably worked hard to get there, but please be humble and respectful towards the people around you. Immediately after the interview, I wrote to HR about what happened at the booth and withdrew my nomination,” she said.

“He may find someone who is a perfect fit for his company, but he doesn’t deserve me,” Gupta concluded.

Her post received hundreds of likes, and many users supported her decision to turn down the job.

One said: “It seems like a terrible place to work. No amount of money will ever make up for that,” while another said: “In my opinion, withdrawing your candidacy was the best decision you could have made. Working in a place like this can be a toxic environment.” And it harms your well-being.
