TCL Ai Mi Companion Bot is just a baby that follows you around

It’s hard to hate artificially intelligent home robots when they’re cute kids. CNET’s Bridget Carey examines TCL’s latest smart home concept, an AI companion robot for kids called Ai Me (“Amy”).

Listen, if we have robots in our homes, why not make them cute little robots that walk around and you can cuddle with. This is Amy, which is an idea from TCL and it’s a companion robot that’s designed for a child in the house to chat with and play with, and it kind of takes advantage of all the smart home stuff that you might have with TCL already. So it’s like a smart home control center. For your child to be able to play and be able to vlog their day and just be a little friend, and how can you be mad at an AI robot that gets all this information about you when it’s so cute. So here are the cameras here and they have eye monitors and it’s just the cute faces, a lot of cute faces, and this too, the little stroller has a lot of different sensors plus it’s rolling. Your home. I’ve seen more little robot companions designed for kids using artificial intelligence. We’ve seen things like Moxie, for example, where you can have conversations back and forth, but here in the TCL concept, it’s also exploited like your own smart security system. He’s taken advantage of what happens in the car. Knows the temperature in the house. You know, if she’s not home, you might want to lead her around the house and have her have an extra set of eyes on the house. What do you get out of this cart? His eyes are blinking, his arms are fluttering, and he is using his cameras to communicate with you in some way. You’ve seen a lot of companion robots wandering around your home every year at CES. Usually they’re all concepts, but no concept has ever had clothes. Yes, you can dress up Amy. We have a green model, perhaps a cosmic model, dressed as a penguin. Why not dress up your robots like penguins? We need more of that in this world because it brings joy, right? Anyway, the point is that because it’s for kids, they’ll want to play. With her and give her her own little personality too. All these sensors and AI together, it will learn and grow with you over time. And when you can’t bring Amy with you, there’s a little pin you can detach and take with you. This is a camera. So Amy kind of knows what to do when Amy can’t be there. This way you have a sort of memory sinking moment as you go. It’s the best AI robot ever. It is really light and has bright eyes and. Your heart, if you think this is twisted. Yeah, you’re right, it’s weird, but we’re seeing more robots that are designed for kids to interact with using artificial intelligence so they can have conversations and kind of become a best friend, or a little friend. Aside from being adorable. Oh, his little arms are moving, his arms are growing. It can control your smart home. So, yeah, why not make this a smart home? Like a little kid, a little kid, a little robot. I can’t get mad at a little robot. 00, he is sleepy. Oh, I’m sorry. Why do I want to do this? What do I want to do with this? Would you like to return to your prayers? 00 Here you go, my friend, here you are. He came right in. You know, I’ve always wondered where we’re going to go with all these robots wandering around the house, and I’m a fan of that. Let’s, let’s make it small and nice and sweet and see where that goes. What do you think? Let us know in the comments if you would adopt your little friend, Amy. Thanks for watching.
