Donald Trump has vowed to rename the Gulf of Mexico as “America’s Gulf,” and has criticized the United States’ southern neighbor as a “very dangerous place.”

Trump’s latest criticism against Mexico came while he was speaking to reporters from his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, less than two weeks before his inauguration to serve a second term in the White House.

During the press conference, he pledged to impose “a tariff on Denmark at a very high level” unless the country relinquished control of Greenland.

He also called on NATO members to spend 5 percent of their gross domestic product on defense, stressing A a report In the Financial Times last month. The move, which will more than double the current target, represents a new challenge for the transatlantic alliance.

The president-elect refused to rule out the use of force to obtain Greenland or control of the Panama Canal.

When asked if he ruled out using military or economic coercion to achieve either goal, he said: “No, I can’t assure you either of those goals. But I can say this, we need them for economic security. . . . Greenland for reasons of national security.”

This is a developing story
