Bird flu: What are the human symptoms and how does it spread?

At least nine U.S. farmworkers have tested positive for the H5N1 strain of avian influenza, or bird flu, as of July 14, 2024, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All of them had close contact with infected livestock or poultry.
