Profiles generated by artificial intelligence Users may soon be flooding Facebook, according to new comments from a Meta AI executive.
Over the past year, the social media platform company has been improving and promoting new AI software and technologies across sites like Facebook. In July, Meta launched new experimental AI character creation tools with hundreds of thousands of characters already created.

Before this rollout, some experts warned that large guardrails would need to be installed to prevent the “weaponization” of technology.
“Without strong safeguards, platforms risk amplifying false narratives through these AI calculations,” Becky Owen, chief marketing officer at talent agency Billion Dollar Boy and former head of Meta’s creator innovations team, told the Financial Times.
It also warned that an influx of AI users could dilute the brand by filling the platform with relatively low-quality content.
“Unlike human creators, these AI characters do not have vivid experiences, emotions, or the same ability to communicate,” she added.

“Historically, investing in building these new, large-scale experiences into our apps has been a very good long-term investment for us and the investors who have stayed with us, and the initial signs are very positive here as well. But building groundbreaking AI will also be important,” Zuckerberg said. “This is larger than other experiments we have added to our apps, and this will likely take several years.”
