A homeless shelter worker in Brooklyn was stabbed to death by a masked suspect

Employee in Brooklyn Homeless shelter Police said the man was brutally stabbed outside the facility on Thursday evening.

The horrific incident occurred at the Days Inn, which the city had converted into a shelter, on East New York Avenue in the Brownsville neighborhood.

The unnamed employee, 35, was attacked at around 6.20pm and later ran into the building for help. He had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and stomach, and was bleeding profusely in the hallway when paramedics arrived, who transported him to Brookdale Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for a suspect dressed in black, wearing a baseball cap and ski mask.

So far, there’s no information about what caused the horrific attack, but the area has seen several hotels converted into homeless housing, and has dealt with its fair share of violent crimes in the past.

“They turned all the hotels here into shelters during Covid. There are four or five more here. Lots of stabbings. Lots of problems,” a neighbor told the New York Post.

New York City Nigeria faces violent crime on its streets and public transport, a problem exacerbated by the influx of illegal immigrants who arrive without shelter. Mayor Eric Adams They repeatedly expressed frustration with the federal government and argued that the city lacked the resources to care for them.

Since April 2022, an estimated 220,000 immigrants have flocked to the city, with more than 58,000 currently sponsored by New York City taxpayers, according to reports from City Hall.
