Season 2 of Netflix’s Squid Game reveals what happened to the detective

As much as the first season of “Squid Game” attracted viewers into the maze of sadistic games and psychological drama, The finale still leaves the audience with a number of unanswered questions. How will sole survivor Seung Ji-hoon (Lee Jung-jae) use the vast resources at his disposal to take revenge on the perpetrators? With the death of Oh Il Nam (or Young Soo), the kindly old man who turned out to be the man behind the curtain all along, will the mysterious front man (who turns out to be the missing In Ho) play his part? By Lee Byung-hun) Are you applying for the big job? Speaking of which, whatever happened to the front man’s brother, stubborn detective Hwang Joon-ho (Wei Ha-jun) – along with the damning evidence he collected and tried to send to his police superiors?

The second season was very well received He wastes no time filling fans in on this missing piece of information, confirming that the cop survived that tense cliff-side standoff with his longtime brother who turned out to be the front man. But while he managed to walk away from the bullet wound and fall into the ocean away, the same cannot be said for the intelligence he tried to use to blow the whistle on the entire operation. However, at least he’s back to his old profession, fighting crime and keeping civilians safe… but not in a way no one ever expected.

If there’s anything this early story with Hwang Jun-ho proves, it’s that gaming has taken its toll and nothing will ever be the same again. Years after the end, the once relentless detective has become a mere shell of his former self. However, deep down, his need to expose the Squid Game for what it really is still drives him, after all.

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? On the one hand, we found out in the Season 2 premiere, “Bread and Lottery,” that Wi Ha-jun survived His painful ordeal in the secret island location Which hosts the Squid Game competition of the same name (albeit only after a long stay in the hospital to recover from his wounds). On the other hand, the photographic and video evidence he tried to send to his boss has not been verified, and the authorities are in no hurry to believe such a far-fetched story. To make matters worse, the final insult is that Joon Ho – once a talented and effective detective – is now beating up traffic cops, stopping motorcyclists for minor infractions and going nowhere, career-wise.

Of course, this is not the last word for one of the series’ promising heroes. We find out that over the past two years since the end of Season 1, Joon-ho has kept in touch with the fisherman who pulled him out of the sea and saved his life. Since then, he convinced the captain to walk the ocean in search of that mysterious island. Moreover, it seems that Jun-ho got the motivation he needed to get out of this predicament and get his mind back on track, thanks to a chance crossing of paths with a similarly re-energized Seong Gi-hun. Our main hero has been busy putting his vast business fortune to work, financing a massive subway manhunt for the mysterious recruiter who lured him to the Games in the first place… and who continues to do so to countless victims at desperate stages of their lives.

The premiere ends with the recruit (Jung Yoo) killing himself in a game of Russian roulette, while Joon-ho breaks into Seung Ji-hoon’s hotel hideout and discovers some files that will almost certainly bring the two back together as a team. It’s been too long. Every episode of “Squid Game” Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
