Israeli forces launched several new raids across the occupied West Bank as conflicts continue between the Palestinian Authority and armed groups in Jenin.
The Israeli army announced that Israeli forces arrested at least 18 Palestinians during a series of raids between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that among the detainees was a wounded man.
The Israeli raids were carried out in the governorates of Nablus, Hebron, Tubas, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Bethlehem, Salfit, and Ramallah.
As is the case with many daily incursions into the Palestinian territories, the raids were accompanied by widespread searches, house demolitions and violations. Arrests without charge.
A young Palestinian man was martyred, Tuesday morning, by Israeli occupation bullets during the storming of Tulkarm refugee camp, according to what the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. Witnesses were quoted as saying that Israeli snipers shot the man, and then prevented ambulance crews from reaching him by shooting at them. Israel said the person was killed during “face-to-face battles” with forces.
It was reported that a large force of soldiers and armored vehicles, accompanied by two heavy bulldozers, stormed the city of Tulkarm from its western axis, and headed towards the camp while drones flew at low altitudes.
Israeli military bulldozers demolished infrastructure in various neighborhoods of the camp, affecting the water network and power and Internet outages.
Palestinian fighters reported armed clashes with Israeli forces in Tulkarm, where the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades coalition, which includes armed groups, said the fighters used automatic weapons and explosive devices.
During a raid in Nablus, at least three Palestinians were injured and another was arrested after soldiers attacked the city and the Balata camp at dawn.
It was reported that Israeli forces surrounded a house in the Al-Tirawi neighborhood inside Balata camp and arrested a young Palestinian while they were deployed in several other neighborhoods.
There was also another major incursion into the town of Hizma, north of occupied Jerusalem, after a young Palestinian man was shot dead a day ago at a military checkpoint for allegedly trying to carry out a knife attack on soldiers.
Local sources told Wafa Agency that the occupation bulldozers demolished a resident’s house and another house under construction. These forces also toppled olive trees with their bulldozers during the raid.
Air strikes were rarer in the West Bank than daily attacks in Gaza, but Israel increasingly relied on them there as well. An Israeli drone strike on Tubas on December 9 killed at least two people.
Israeli settlers also receive support from soldiers in almost daily attacks on Palestinian farmers in the illegally occupied territories.
According to the latest United Nations figures, 736 Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, from the beginning of the war on Gaza until October 31.
Clashes continue in Jenin
Meanwhile, as Israeli raids continue, Palestinian Authority security forces are present Confrontations with armed Palestinian fighters In Jenin for ten days.
Sources told Al Jazeera Arabia that confrontations also broke out on Tuesday, south of Tubas Governorate in the occupied West Bank. The fighting broke out after Palestinian Authority security forces confiscated equipment from a house in the town of Tammoun.
The Israeli army stayed away from incursions into Jenin, despite calls from regional settlement heads for direct intervention.
The Palestinian Authority forces continued their efforts to fully control the city, which is considered a stronghold for armed resistance factions.
A number of civilians, Palestinian Authority soldiers, and armed fighters have been killed since the start of “Operation Protect the Homeland,” including Commander of the Jenin Brigades, Yazid Jaaysa.
The fighting focused Palestinian criticism on the Palestinian Authority, with the Popular Resistance Committees accusing the organization of acting “in line with the Zionist agenda.”
Last week, the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that its health center in Jenin had been taken over by armed groups and was no longer under its control. All UNRWA services, including education and humanitarian aid, in the camp have been suspended for the time being.
According to the United Nations, eight Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank between December 9 and 15.
Of these, five were killed by Israeli forces, and three by the Palestinian Authority. During this period, Israeli forces arrested an estimated 158 Palestinians, and the Palestinian Authority detained 14 Palestinians.
