Lawyers delivered opening data on Wednesday in the retrial in New York to Harvey Winstein, where public prosecutors were accused of the disgraceful film product to use his huge strength in Hollywood to harass and abuse sexual treatment three women.

“The defendant wanted their bodies, and the more they resisted, the more powerful it gets,” said Shannon Lucy, assistant jury on Wednesday.

In his third trial five years ago, Winztein was accused of sexual assault on a former TV production assistant, an ambitious actress and a model.

The former Mogul acknowledged that he was not guilty, and in the court his lawyer sought doubt about women’s claims and credibility.

Lawyer Arthur Edala told the jury that the prosecution case “will fall on her face” after they heard all the evidence.

“They will ask you to understand the meaningless things,” he said.

The Court of Appeal canceled the former Winsetein’s conviction of sexual crimes in New York last April, before accusing him of the new sexual assault in the state in September.

Last week, 12 jurors – seven women and five men – were chosen to weigh the fate of Winstein.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Lucy spent an hour to provide an opening statement, and told jury that three women have been a victim to the abuse of the Hollywood Energy Square in the Hollywood “rubbing the elbows with celebrities and politicians.”

New York’s re -trial is centered on two women who brought allegations against Winstein for the trial of 2020, actress Jessica Man and former TV production assistant, Myriam Haley. This time, the trial also includes allegations of the former Polish model and actress Kaga Sukola, who was accused of Winstein of assaulting her when she was sixteen years old.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Lucy told the three women’s stories about attack and harassment, making some details. The alleged meetings of Winstein that bring women to his room under the guise of a working meeting often participate, before he claimed that he forced himself to them.

Mrs. Lucy said the victims “kept their shame and pain for themselves” for years because of the role of Westin as a man “determined the field of” acting and cinema.

During an hour of the openings that followed, Winztein’s lawyer followed a combat approach, accusing women of sexual relations “useful” with Winstein and defended money.

Mr. Eidala said: “These women are addicted to this fame.” “They want to be heroes.”

Mr. Idala argued that Winztein could not attack women because they continued to contact him and sent him friendly messages after the meetings.

Last April, the Court of Appeal said that 73 -year -old Winstein had not received a fair trial in New York in 2020 because the judge who supervises his case allowed his testimony from women who performed allegations against him because of his behavior that was never charged.

Winstein was serving a 23 -year prison sentence in New York Prison after his conviction.

He was also convicted of rape in a separate trial in California in 2022 and sentenced to 16 years in prison in this case.

Winstein has many medical conditions, including cancer and diabetes. In September, he was transferred to the hospital for a heart surgery and held in a safe hospital unit.

The judge agreed to a request from Winstein’s lawyer to allow him to stay at the Bulfo Hospital in Manhattan when he is not in court.

His lawyers had complained that he was receiving a weak medical treatment in non -formulation conditions in the Esophageal Island Prison facility – which officials have long said they were planning to close – despite the delay in this step.

In total, Winstein was accused of sexual misconduct, assault and rape by more than 100 women.

He is likely to spend his life in prison, as he has not yet started spending a 16 -year prison sentence in California.

The decision to accuse him of progress, and his subsequent condemnation in New York, motivated the #Metoo movement against sexual assault by strong men.

Speaking to jury on Wednesday, Mrs. Lucy said that the movement allowed the three women to advance in the criminal case against Winztein after they suddenly realized that they were not alone.

Before the allegations appeared against him, Winstein and his brother Bob were among the Hollywood power players.

Weinstein participated in the founding of Miramax Film Studio, whose songs Shakespeare included in love, who won the Best Academy Awards Award and Pulp Fitch.

His films received more than 300 Oscars and 81 wins.

The former Mogul also faced a number of civil lawsuits, including a group of women who accused it of sexual harassment and rape and reached a settlement of $ 19 million (14.2 pounds) in 2020.
