The Dominican Republic arrested women and children in a campaign campaign

The Dominican Republic says it has arrested more than 130 Haiti women and children on the first day of a campaign of immigrants not documented in Santo Domingo Hospitals.

Many women who were arrested on Monday were pregnant and the others recently gave birth to.

The campaign is part of the government plan announced last year to deport up to 10,000 illegal immigrants per week to move to immigration from the neighboring Haiti.

However, the government of President Louis Abyader was criticized for its harsh treatment of Haiti immigrants because many flee the violence of gangs and poverty in the capital Port or Prince.

The Ministry of Immigration said that women “offered a decent treatment” after they were transferred to a detention center, where their biometric data and fingerprints were recorded.

A Haitian woman who accompanied her pregnant friend to the hospital said that the government’s actions would lead to uncertainty for pregnant women in need of care.

She said: “If a woman gave birth to today, she will not be able to take her today, because they do not know what will happen. If she has a C section, they do not know what will happen either, because there is no doctor with her to help if something happens on the road, with the child or with it.”

The authorities said that women will receive a medical treatment and that no documented mothers will be returned.

Many Haitians crossed the common borders with the Dominican Republic to escape from escalating violence and hunger, and sometimes in many trucks per day.

To liquidate these numbers, the Dominican Republic deported more than 80,000 people to Haiti in the first three months of this year, according to Agence France -Presse.

The government of President Abyader has previously expressed frustration with the failure of the international community to restore stability to Haiti.
