Vladimir Putin offered to stop his invasion of Ukraine through the current front line as part of the efforts made to reach a peace agreement with US President Donald Trump, according to persons familiar with the matter.

Russian President Steve Whitchov, Trump’s private envoy, told a meeting in St. Petersburg earlier this month that Moscow could abandon its demands for four parts of Ukrainian regions partially occupied that are still under Kiev’s control.

People added that the United States has put forward ideas on a possible settlement that includes Washington that the Russian monarchy realizes the Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine, in addition to recognizing at least the actual control of Karmlin on parts of the four regions currently carrying.

The proposal is the first official signal made by Putin since the first months of the war three years before Russia could retract its maximum demands to end the invasion.

But European officials who have seen the efforts of the United States to end the war warned that Putin would likely use the apparent privilege as a taste to attract Trump to accept Russia’s other demands and force them to Ukraine as a legitimate leader.

One of them said: “There is a lot of pressure on Kiev now to give up things so that Trump can claim victory.”

Ukrainian officials are scheduled to meet in London on Wednesday to discuss the latest proposals. However, Wittakov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio withdrew from the meeting, according to American and European officials. Trump’s Ukraine Kilo Cao’s envoy is still expected to attend. Putin’s foreign policy advisor said on Tuesday that Witkeov will visit Moscow later this week, according to Russia New Zires.

“The tense work is in implementation. We are talking to the Americans. The work is difficult and takes a lot of time, so it is difficult to expect immediate results, and the work cannot be done in public places,” Putin’s Dmitry Peskov, a Putin spokesman, told FT.

Trump posted on social media on Sunday that he hopes that Ukraine and Russia will assume this week’s deal, “then” begins to deal with the United States of America, which flourishes, and shows wealth! “

The ideas of the floating United States that hopes at the White House can constitute the outlines of a possible deal at a Paris meeting last week with European and Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski said on Tuesday that he had not received a proposal from Trump that defines specific steps towards ending the Russian war. But he said that as soon as the ceasefire, he would be ready for direct conversations with Putin.

“There are signs, ideas and discussions, but they are not an official proposal,” Zellinski said. If such an official proposal comes, he said: “We will answer.”

VI -Ukrainian officials told FT that they were subject to some of the ideas that Trump and his team put forward without specifying which in particular. American proposals include the deployment of a European peacekeeping squad in Ukraine in addition to a separate non -NATO military force to help monitor the ceasefire along a decorated area that extends to the overall confrontation line, which is more than 1000 km.

The force will join the Ukrainian and Russian forces, which monitors the armistice on its sides of the so -called communication line.

Under a possible deal, Ukraine has pledged not to restore the Russian -occupied lands, while Russia agrees to stop its slow army’s progress.

It is not clear whether Trump has asked Ukraine to formally recognize the inclusion of the Crimea Russia. But Zelinski repeated his position on the Black Peninsula on Tuesday, saying: “Ukraine will not get to know the occupation of the Crimea. It is our lands, the lands of the people of Ukraine, there is nothing to discuss here.”

Russia also rejected some American suggestions, including a military presence of NATO countries in Ukraine.

But people familiar with this said that Putin will prepare to celebrate his previous request for full control of the four Ukrainian regions – Donetsk, Luhanssk, Jeruson, and Zaborzahia – if the United States offers wider geopolitical privileges to Moscow, such as recognizing the control of the cream and celebrations in Okreen.

Although Putin made constitutional amendments in 2020, which prevents Russia from abandoning claims to any of its territory, Konstantin Remchuk, the editor of the Carmlin newspaper, was editor in a column published on Sunday, that Moscow might end the fighting as soon as it took the time of the Ukrain forces from Kursk-Russian Kyiv, but it had ended by Moscow. “99.5 %” is under its control again.

“When they liberate the last half percent, the forces can stop wherever the news reach,” Ramchukov wrote in Nizavisimia Gazzita.

“Trump is believed to understand this, thanks to Witkoff. It is hoped that all of this will happen by April 30 so that he can proudly announce that the peace mission was carried out in the first 100 days of his presidency.”

Putin announced the inclusion of the four provinces in southeast Ukrainian at a luxurious party in the Kremlin in September 2022, although Russia did not completely control any of them at the time. Russia still does not fully control any of the four regions, although it has held regional capitals in Donetsk and Luhansk since its first secret invasion of East Ukraine with the use of local agents in 2014.

Although Russia has retracted some of the lands it occupied in the fall of 2022, Putin said last year that he would not accept any peace agreement unless Ukraine withdraws its forces from the front lines and Russia gave full control over the four governorates-including the city of Zaborisvia, an industrial town of 700,000 individuals that Russia has never carried out, but regular attacks.

It included previous Russian demands to obtain a peace agreement pledged from Ukraine to stay neutral and abandon its aspirations in NATO, recognize Russian demands on the attached lands, relief Western sanctions and reduce NATO forces in member states close to Russia.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman said they could not comment on “negotiations.”
