New York (Reuters) – New York Prosecutor filed a lawsuit against Dailypay and MoneyLion on Monday, accusing applications -based financial technology companies to exploit workers by imposing excessive fees on collecting more checks more quickly, with effective interest rates of more than 200 % and sometimes lead 750 %.

Prosecutor Letia James described the loan of the predatory payment of companies that block the “exorbitant” fees that workers receive, who hope to bridge the gaps between the tables of salary lists and when the bills come.

James said that MoneyLion fees worth $ 8.99 at $ 100 for two weeks under the name of the brand “Instacash” holds an effective annual interest rate of 234 %, while Dailypay fees $ 2.99 at a distance of $ 20 of seven days carry an effective price exceeding 750 %.

The Prosecutor said that Dailypay arrives to workers by contracting employers such as Burger King, McDonald’s, Target, GROCER KROGER, HCA and UNITEDHELHE.

James said: “The promise is free from the New York residents in New York, while pushing them to expensive loans is shameful,” James said. “These are loans on payment day by another name.”

Both invitations were raised in the New York State Court in Manhattan, where Dailycheck and Moneyllion are located.

Reasons seek to recover and civil fines and end alleged dispenser practices.

Dailypay filed a lawsuit against James on April 7 to try to prevent her from bringing the case, saying that her product was not a loan because workers do not need to pay anything if employers fail to make salaries.

On Monday, he repeated the disappointment of James that James chose to prosecute, saying that she indicates that she “preferred consumers to rely on sharks or pay out open and late clouds.”

MoneyLion did not immediately respond to suspension requests.

Many US states are expected to maintain a document for the financial services industry, as President Donald Trump’s administration is overseeing the federal level.

Moneyllion is obtained by Gen Digital in a treatment expected to be closed on Thursday. Gen is a software company that includes its Norton and Lifelock commercial brands.
