Conmebol World Cup suits 64 teams out of 2030 championships

Alejandro Dominguez, head of the South America Football Administration, has officially suggested that the FIFA World Cup for 2030 will expand to 64 national teams instead of 48 currently credit.

The suggestion was presented on Thursday at the eighty conference in Conmebol, and aims to make the 100th anniversary of the championship a special version.

FIFA, who governs international football, was already aware of the suggestion when Uruguay delegate raised it at the virtual council meeting in March.

“We are convinced that the centenary will be unique because a hundred years are celebrated only once,” Domingwiz said in Congress.

“For this reason, for the first time we suggest holding this anniversary with 64 teams, on three continents at the same time.

“This will allow all countries to have the opportunity to live in the experience of the world, and therefore no person is left on this planet from the party.”

The 2030 World Cup edition is scheduled to be the most geographical at all, with six host countries across three continents.

Uruguay, who hosted the opening championship in 1930, is expected to hold one match as part of the centenary. Other harassment includes Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

By expanding the championship, all ten CONMEBOL member states – including Venezuela, have not yet qualified for the World Cup – are possible in competition.

If implemented, the revised coordination will double the number of 64 games that were used from 1998 to 2022, up to 128 games.

Despite the excitement surrounding the suggestion of Conmebol, not everyone is supporting the idea. UEFA ALEKSANDER CEFERIN President has already expressed his concerns, and the World Cup concept described 64 teams “bad idea”.

The skeptics argue that such expansion can reduce the level of play and undermine the importance of the rehabilitation process, especially in traditional competitive areas.
