The Red Crescent calls for an investigation into the killing of paramedics

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) called for an independent international investigation into the killing of Israel for 15 emergency workers in southern Gaza.

The organization released a full video on the phone of one of the eight paramedics who died when the forces fired a convoy of ambulances on March 23, which it said was a “full war crime.”

He called on the officials to accredit.

The Israeli army said on Monday that a preliminary investigation indicated that the forces “opened fire due to a perceived threat after a previous meeting in the area, and that six of the individuals who were killed in the incident were identified as Hamas terrorists,” without providing evidence.

The Red Crescent said on Wednesday that the video showed “this was not a random accident or an individual error, but rather a series of deliberate attacks.”

“The first was the shooting of an ambulance on his way to evacuate the losses after the bombing of a house in the Hashin area.”

He added: “This followed a direct attack on the PRCS convoy and the ambulance convoy of civil defense – despite the team that follows all safety protocols – then by targeting a fourth ambulance that was heading to support others.”

The association insisted that the region was not classified by the Israeli army as a “red area”, which means that there is no prior coordination required to reach the site, and that the video showed that the Israeli military vehicles were not visible in the area.

He also said that initial forensic reports showed that paramedics had been killed by “multiple wounds in the upper parts of the bodies”, which she described as “another evidence of deliberate killing.”

At a press conference in the occupied West Bank on Monday, the president of the association, Dr. Younis Al -Khatib, called for an independent international investigation into the accident and for those responsible for responsibility.

He said: “We will follow this issue to the end. For us, these fifteen men represent all who were killed in order to save lives, for humanity.”

“Justice has not been brought to them. We hope this time and through these fifteen men, we can achieve justice.”

Khatib refused to achieve the Israeli army, saying that society did not “trust” it to provide all answers about what happened because of the “previous experience.”

He also refused to accuse the army that Hamas’s agents were among those who were killed, saying that it had failed “to prove even once in 50 years that the Red Crescent or its crew carry or use weapons.”

Later, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its chief of staff, LT Gen Eyal Zamir, has been presented the results of the initial investigation into the incident and ordered that they were “followed with a greater depth and have been completed in the coming days by the investigation mechanism of the Staff.”

He added, “All claims that were raised in relation to the accident will be examined through the mechanism and presented in a detailed and comprehensive way for a decision on how to deal with the event.”

The Israeli army launched a campaign to destroy Hamas in response to an unprecedented attack across the border on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 grooves were taken.

More than 50,750 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health in the region.
