A video showing disorderly behavior on board a flight to Thailand has sparked a heated debate online about travel etiquette for Indian passengers. The footage, shared by user Ankit Kumar on Instagram, shows passengers standing, eating and talking in the aisles, blatantly ignoring repeated requests from Thai AirAsia cabin crew to remain in their seats. The incident sparked widespread criticism and discussion about the importance of civic sense during air travel.
In the video, Ankit Kumar expressed his disappointment over the unruly behaviour, saying: “Indians love to insult themselves.” The clip highlights groups of passengers crowding the aisles mid-flight, ignoring multiple announcements from the crew to adhere to safety rules. Frustrated by the behavior, Ankit concluded his video with a sharp comment: “Put them on the train.”
The video sparked a range of reactions online. Many criticized the passengers’ actions, linking them to larger social behavioral concerns. One user commented: “Money doesn’t get you a level of education!” Another commented: “Indians need to learn civic sense first, then move on among ordinary people. I am Indian too, but some people are on another level.”
Some users defended the passengers, saying that standing in the aisle does not pose a problem as long as the seat belt sign is off. “Stop making a fuss over small things,” one person commented.
In response, Ankit Kumar addressed the criticism in a follow-up clip, noting that passengers were shouting and disturbing others trying to sleep, despite repeated requests from cabin crew to remain in their seats.
The incident also led to wider discussions about the behavior of Indian tourists abroad. One user, who claims to have lived in Thailand for several years, expressed frustration, saying: “Women and locals are more fed up with Indian men.”
