UNRWA says that Gaza has become a “cemetery” as Israel continues its bombing campaign amid deteriorating living conditions.

An Israeli air strike killed 10 members of one family, including seven children, in the northern part of the city Gaza StripThe Palestinian Civil Defense reported.

A video clip published by the agency on its Telegram channel on Friday evening showed its crews extracting victims from under the rubble of the Khalla family’s home in Jabalia.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Agence France-Presse, “All the martyrs are from one family, including seven children, the eldest of whom is six years old.”

Basal added that the air strike injured 15 other people.

The Israeli army told Agence France-Presse that it struck “several terrorists who were working in a military facility affiliated with the Hamas terrorist organization and posed a threat to the Israeli army forces operating in the area.”

He added: “According to the preliminary examination, the reported number of casualties as a result of the raid does not correspond to the information possessed by the Israeli army.”

Israel continued its attacks across the Gaza Strip on Friday, more than 14 months after its assault on Gaza.

At least eight people were killed as a result of a drone missile falling on a residential building on Market Street in the Nuseirat refugee camp, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

Al Jazeera correspondents said that four people were also killed in an air strike on Beit Hanoun. The victims are two girls and their parents.

The bodies of three brothers were also recovered from under the rubble of a bombed house near Kamal Adwan Hospital.

Trapped in a “cemetery”

UNRWA Chief Emergency Officer Louise Waterridge warned on Friday that Gaza had become a “graveyard” as heavy winter rains, hunger, harsh living conditions and ongoing hostilities continued to put people’s lives at risk.

“The entire community here is now a graveyard,” she said, speaking from Nuseirat camp. “More than two million people are trapped.”

“It is impossible for families to take shelter in these circumstances,” she said. “Most people live under canvas, they don’t even have waterproof structures, and 69 percent of the buildings here have been damaged or destroyed. There is absolutely nowhere where people can take shelter from these elements.

UNRWA provides assistance to approximately six million Palestinian refugees across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

Israeli politicians in October Legislation passed To prevent UNRWA from operating in Israel and occupied East Jerusalem while raising the possibility of similar action against other aid agencies.

On Friday, Sweden announced plans to stop funding UNRWA in response to the Israeli ban, but pledged to double its aid to Gaza through other groups.

UNRWA Director Philippe Lazzarini previously said on Twitter that the Swedish government’s decision was “disappointing” and came “at the worst time for Palestine refugees.”

The UN General Assembly, in a resolution adopted on Friday, asked the International Court of Justice to issue an advisory opinion clarifying what international law says about Israel’s responsibility to allow relief work by the United Nations, international organizations and third countries in the Palestinian territories. .

Earlier this year, judges of the International Court of Justice commander It demanded that Israel stop its attack on the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, withdraw from the Strip, and provide safety and access for humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.

Israel did not comply.

These temporary measures were part of a case brought by South Africa – later joined by several other countries – accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
