In an interview with France 24 in Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed his country’s position in the wake of the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Fidan claimed that Türkiye played no role in the overthrow of the Syrian Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham of the Assad regime. He also said that Türkiye’s interests are with the Syrian people, and that Ankara does not support the presence of foreign forces in Syria, whether they are Russian or American soldiers.
