Delta, American and United released travel exemptions on its locations on the web after a large fire at an electrical sub -station near Heathrow, which created “a large power cut” throughout the airport. The airport was closed for hours on Friday, but officials later announced that it would be reopened.
“Our teams have worked tirelessly since the accident to ensure a rapid recovery. We are pleased to say that we are now able to start some flights later today. Our first flights will be returned to our homeland and the transportation of aircraft,” an airport spokesman said later.
Before the fire, the airport expected 291,000 passengers on a Total 1,351 flights Friday, according to Reuters.
