Deciding on a show to watch on Netflix can be difficult due to the large number of titles across all genres. The streaming company is known for its sprawling drama series, addictive reality competitions, and original comedies. With so many to choose from, we’ve narrowed down some of the funniest shows on the streaming service right now, including two new series that are currently in the streamer’s top ten list, Black Doves and No Good Deed, and perennial favorites like Peaky Blinders and The Crown . The hardest thing is deciding which one to start with.

A compelling and skillful account of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The Crown touches on many topics that go beyond just the monarchy, including politics, family, and the turmoil of royal marriages – specifically that of Charles and Diana. In addition to an amazing cast across all six seasons, the show is supported by strong writing and engaging stories that stir up emotions in viewers, regardless of how they actually feel about the British monarchy.

Inspired by true events from the life of writer and actor Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer follows the story of Donnie Dunne, an aspiring comedian whose day job is as a bartender. Donnie’s experience of being stalked triggers a wave of unaddressed trauma, which makes for an interesting story. The seven-episode series recently won a series of Emmy Awards and is available to watch.

Breaking Bad (2008 – 2013)

Hailed as one of the best TV shows of all time, Breaking Bad has all the makings of an outstanding series: a suspenseful story, dynamic characters, and shocking plot twists – many of which are not for the faint of heart. The film follows high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who resorts to cooking meth when he is diagnosed with cancer and is worried about providing for his family. But his talent for producing the illegal substance leads him down roads he never imagined.

The Blue Eye Samurai anime follows Mizu, a mixed-race warrior woman seeking revenge on four men – one of whom is her father. The series is set during the Edo period in Japan, and features Maya Erskine as Mizu, and Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, George Takei, Masi Oka, Brenda Song, Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Mark Dacascos among the cast. The first season of the Emmy Award winner is now streaming.

CNET’s Aaron Broner praised it as “A great new take on the anti-hero story“, Netflix’s Ripley is the latest book-to-screen adaptation of the character from Patricia Highsmith’s novel. Andrew Scott stars as the scheming Tom Ripley, a stylish con man who uses morally ambiguous methods to get what he wants – even murder.

Drawing from League of Legends lore, Arcane stands out as a fantasy anime series about social and economic inequality in Piltover and Zaun. Corruption, violence, and more are explored in the show through the characters’ journeys. Season 1 is available now, and Season 2 is scheduled to be released in three parts starting November 9.

Peaky Blinders tells the story of an English gang run by Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his family after World War I. The Great British Baking Show (2010-present)

The Great British Baking Show (also known as The Great British Bake-Off) has become synonymous with comfort television, and it continues to deliver all the good vibes. New host Alison Hammond, who joined last season, has proven to be a great addition to the existing cast, which also includes co-host Noel Fielding and judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. One Day is a heart-wrenching adaptation of David Nicholls’ novel, which sees Emma Morley (Ambika Maud) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall) come together on the same day over the course of two decades. It’s a unique storytelling tool that will make you think about time and relationships, tugging at your heartstrings throughout.

Griselda Blanco Restrepo was a ruthless Colombian drug lord who was instrumental in establishing drug trafficking networks to New York and Miami in the 1970s and 1980s. Danson has teamed up again with Good Place director Mike Schur for this new comedy about a widowed retiree named Charles, whose desire to find a new hobby lands him a job as a spy for a local private investigator. His mission? To infiltrate a retirement home in San Francisco to find out who was stealing from the residents. The problem is that Charles, although friendly and approachable, continues to befriend all the suspects. The eight-episode show reached the top of Netflix’s top 10 when it was released in November 2024 and is the perfect comfort treat.

Bridgerton (2020 – present)

One of the most aesthetically pleasing displays on this list. Bridgerton is set in Regency-era England, where the Bridgerton brothers search for love while navigating high society — and are the subject of anonymous gossip posts. There’s plenty of drama, beautiful costumes, and lavish tea parties that will keep you coming back for more. Part 1 of Season 3 arrives on May 16, so tune in now.

The Night Agent (2023 – present)

Gabriel Basso stars in The Night Agent, based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk. In the first season of the series, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Basu) works in the White House on the top-secret Night Agent program, where he is drawn into a dangerous conspiracy when he learns that a spy may be lurking within the government. Season 2 of the show will arrive on January 23, 2025.

New spy thriller Black Doves only just hit the platform last week, but it quickly made it into the top 10 on Netflix and has already been renewed for a second season. The series stars Keira Knightley – who just received a Golden Globe nomination for the role – as a spy named Helen Webb who is married to a British government politician who has no idea who she really is. Ben Whishaw plays Helen’s friend and partner Sam, a killer battling his own sense of morality, in this action-packed (and very bloody) series full of espionage and sometimes some very dark humour.
