Police said on Thursday that two US Marine Interests in Okinawa, Japan, were under investigation of alleged rape. A series of attacks that angered the population.
In the United States there are about 54,000 military individuals stationed in Japan – most of them on the southern third -tropical Okinawa island, east of Taiwan.
“The US Marine Interest in his twenties does not rape a Japanese woman at an American military base in March, and another woman is suspected.”
The official said that the second passenger, in his twenties, was suspected of raping a Japanese woman at an American base in January.
The police referred the two cases to the prosecutors.
The US ambassador, George Glass, said that Washington would “fully” cooperate with the Japanese authorities in the investigations.
He said in a statement, “We are deeply able to trust the trust and friendship that we have built for many decades with our Japanese hosts, and I am committed to all my best to prevent the procedures that may endanger these ties.”
Last week, the United States service members joined Japanese officials and residents of Okinawa in a joint journal for the city’s downtown street spread with bars.

The patrol – the first joint operation since 1973 – followed other sexual assaults in Okinawa, which includes American soldiers.
He was charged with sexual accusation of 21 -year -old American soldiers of rape in June last year, a few months after the public prosecutors accused a 25 -year -old American soldier on charges of assaulting a girl under the age of 16.
The Japanese media reported that the governor of Okinawa Tamaki described the latest cases as “unfortunate” and said that the authorities would urge the US military to prevent similar incidents.
Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayshi refused to comment on the cases on a regular briefing on Thursday, but he said that the crimes by the American forces were “unacceptable.”
The Japanese media said that the alleged rape in March fell into a toilet, and the injured woman was trying to stop the attack on the other woman, citing the police sources.
Relationships have always been preserved between Oakinawan and American bases.
Last year, a total of 80 people connected to the American army were accused in Okinawa for various crimes, the police said.
The rape of the 1995 gang pushed a 12-year-old girl by three American soldiers in Okinawa, a major violent reaction-with calls to rethink the 1960 charter, allowing the United States at a forces station in Japan.
