This is a MacBook (7/10, WIRED recommends) is ours Go to recommendation For most people. It has a 13.6-inch LCD screen, a 1080p webcam, and a modern design. Under the hood is an M3 chip that offers a great performance boost over the older M1 processor, so you can trust that it will easily handle everyday tasks.
If you’re looking for a more powerful laptop than the Air but don’t need the Pro chip, this is a great option. It comes with the latest M4 chip, which is the entry-level processor of the bunch. You’ll also get three USB-C ports Thunderbolt 4 Along with an HDMI port, a MagSafe charging port, an SD card slot, and a headphone jack. Apple has also doubled the memory in the base model, so it now starts at 16GB.
MacBook Air 15 inch (8/10, WIRED recommends) is the one I keep coming back to. The larger screen size is very comfortable to work with, especially if you don’t have access to external monitors. The M3 also works well for all my tasks, including web browsing, word processing, video calls, and content streaming.
MacBook Air powered by M2 (7/10, WIRED recommends) He came out a couple of years ago, but he’s still more than capable. It has all the necessary features including a 13.6-inch display, 1080p webcam, and MagSafe charging. You’ll also enjoy smooth performance and good battery life – we got about eight hours before having to plug it into the charger.

Are you looking for a desktop? Latest iMac (9/10, WIRED recommends) is also on sale. It’s not much different from the M3 version, but it comes with some new features. There’s a 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage support, an M4 chip that delivers great performance, and the peripherals (finally) have USB-C ports. iPad (10th generation) (7/10, Wired review) is the tablet we recommend for most people. It has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display (IPS LCD), a 12-megapixel front-facing camera in the center of the iPad, Touch ID built into the power button, and a USB-C port for charging. A14 Bionic chip (also found in iPhone 12) I never felt slow during testing either.
Apple’s latest iPad Air (8/10, WIRED recommends) now comes in a larger 13-inch size. It’s a great secondary screen for use at work or for watching TV. Under the hood is an M2 chip that runs smoothly, whether you’re using it for work or entertainment. The front camera has also been moved to landscape orientation, so you don’t have to look to the side awkwardly during video calls.
New iPad mini (8/10, WIRED recommends) comes with internal changes, primarily. There is an A17 Pro chip (shown on iPhone 15 Pro) that can handle everything from graphically demanding games to Apple intelligence (The company’s AI features were released with iOS 18.) It’s a great, compact tablet to travel with, especially if you plan to use it for gaming or Read e-books.

It is powered by the M4 chip, which delivers ultra-fast performance. It’s compatible with many accessories too including the Apple Pencil Pro, Smart Folio, and the latest Magic Keyboard.
